India's First Glue Lamination & Nested Embossing Machine — Now Dispatched to S.G. Auto Enterprises, Jaipur
The 14th First
Birla Hi-Tech Machines has dispatched India's first glue lamination and nested embossing machine — the Fusionex — to its first customer: Samyak Gera of S.G. Auto Enterprises, Jaipur, who produces under the brand name Imperior.
This is the 14th India First in this family's manufacturing history, spanning 1977 to 2026. From India's first online slitting toilet roll machine in 1977 to India's first automatic paper napkin folding machine in 1982 — recognised by the President of India — to India's first double deck napkin machine in 2014, every first in this list represents a machine that did not exist in India before we built it.
The Fusionex is no different. No Indian manufacturer has built a glue lamination and nested embossing machine before. It now exists. It is on its way to Jaipur.
What the Fusionex Does

The Fusionex produces laminated tissue napkins — a product category that has been standard in European fine dining for decades and at scale in China since 2007, but has remained largely underserved by domestic Indian manufacturing capability until now.
The machine combines two processes that together produce a fundamentally different napkin from standard tissue:
Glue lamination bonds the plies of a tissue napkin together using an adhesive applied between layers. Standard tissue napkins hold their plies together through mechanical embossing alone — a process that works but creates a relatively weak bond. Glue lamination creates a chemical bond between plies, producing a napkin that is structurally more cohesive, significantly more absorbent, and noticeably fluffier — the sponge-like feel that distinguishes a premium laminated napkin immediately from standard tissue.
Nested embossing uses a male-to-male roller process in which the embossing pattern on both plies is perfectly synchronised before bonding. The result is consistent pattern alignment across the full napkin surface — a uniform texture that standard embossing, which uses a male-to-female roller process, cannot achieve in the same way.
Together, glue lamination and nested embossing produce a napkin that looks, feels, and performs at a level that standard 2-ply tissue cannot match. The product is aimed squarely at the premium HoReCa segment — luxury restaurants, five-star hotels, high-end wedding caterers, and premium bars — where the napkin on the table is a deliberate signal of quality.
The Fusionex produces 225 sheets per minute at 38×38cm finished size, with output configuration customisable to customer requirements.
The Customer: S.G. Auto Enterprises and the Imperior Brand
Samyak Gera founded S.G. Auto Enterprises in Jaipur with a specific vision for the tissue business: premium products for a premium market. His brand, Imperior, is positioned at the upper end of the Indian tissue market — the segment where product quality and presentation matter as much as price.
The Fusionex is the machine that allows Imperior to produce laminated tissue napkins domestically — at Indian manufacturing economics, with the quality that the premium HoReCa segment demands and that previously required imported tissue or imported equipment to achieve.
Ashwani Birla, Founder and Managing Director of Birla Hi-Tech Machines, handed over a stack of freshly laminated napkins to Samyak Gera at our Faridabad factory before dispatch — a moment that represents not just a machine sale but the beginning of a new product category in Indian tissue converting.
S.G. Auto Enterprises is among the established names in Birla Hi-Tech Machines' client base — a relationship built on shared standards for what a tissue product should be.
What This Means for the Indian Tissue Industry
The dispatch of the Fusionex to Jaipur marks something beyond a product launch. It marks the availability — for the first time — of a domestically manufactured glue lamination and nested embossing machine for Indian tissue converters.
Until now, a converter who wanted to produce laminated tissue napkins had two options: import finished laminated tissue, or import the equipment to produce it. The Fusionex changes both equations. Indian converters can now acquire this capability from an Indian manufacturer, at Indian lead times, with Indian after-sales support, and with the 18-month warranty that covers all mechanical and electrical components — the longest warranty offered by any tissue machine manufacturer in India.
The premium tissue segment in India is growing. Duni Group — Europe's leading tabletop brand — has formally entered the Indian market, validating the premium napkin opportunity at scale. Luxury hospitality is expanding. High-end wedding and events catering is a significant and growing market for premium tissue. The manufacturers who invest in the capability to serve this segment now are positioning themselves ahead of demand, not behind it.
